Monday, 6th March 2017: Pre Argus Cycle Training Tour Approximately 80km
After transferring to the West Coast National Park, you will start your ride in Langebaan and do an in and out route in the National Park famous for its stunning scenery, multi-hued flora and fauna, and varied wildlife. Closer towards the end of the ride, you will stop at Geelbek Restaurant for some traditional South African cuisine. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to get in a few more miles before transferring back to the hotel.
Tuesday, 7th March 2017: Pre Argus Cycle Training Tour Approximately 90km
Today’s ride will start in one of the most beautiful wine regions in the Western Cape – Stellenbosch. Your ride from Stellenbosch to Franschhoek will take you over the famous Franschhoek pass to Teawaterskloof Dam, before turning right to Grabouw. After cycling some 90km, you will make your way to ‘The Pool Room’ at the Oak Valley Wine Estate where you will enjoy lunch and spend some time relaxing on the terrace by the pool before transferring back to the hotel.
Wednesday, 8th March 2017: Pre Argus Cycle Training Tour Approximately 100km
After packing the bikes on the trailer, you will transfer for about 30min to Wellington and ride to Riebeek Kasteel over the pass. A picturesque route with some great photo opportunities, it will lead you to the Spice Route where you will have lunch. After lunch, you have an hour at leisure to enjoy a beer tasting at the Cape Brewing Company, a freshly ground coffee at the Coffee Roaster, or restore your energy levels with a sweet treat from the Chocolate Factory on site. Afterwards, transfer back to the hotel.
Thursday, 9th March 2017: Cycle Training Tour Approximately 90km
Today’s tour will start with a transfer out to Gordons Bay, where you will start your ride along the beautiful coastal road to Kleinmond. A stunning route, it is well worth riding in both directions, so from Kleinmond, we will circle back to our starting point before loading our bikes onto the trailer and drive for approximately 30 minutes to our lunch stop at an organic farm just outside Somerset West. A real insiders tip, this farm specialises in delicious local foods, and most meals are made with organic ingredients from the farm. After lunch, transfer back to your hotel in Cape Town.
Friday, 10th March 2017: Cycle Training Tour Approximately 100km
Today you will have the opportunity to cycle the Cape Town Cycle Tour Route in reverse, departing from Sea Point. A great warm-up for race day, you will cycle around the Cape Peninsula, riding past the entrance to Cape Point and covering as much of the ‘Argus’ route as you possibly can. After lunch in Noordhoek, you will ride approximately 30km back to the hotel, taking in the dreaded Chapman’s Peak and Suikerbossie.
