Entries for the Cape Town Discovery World Triathlon are now open, and if you are planning to take part in this all running, all swimming, all cycling event, now is definitely the time to secure one of the limited spaces available!
A fantastic two-day event that is set to take place in South Africa’s Mother City on 23rd and 24th April 2016, the Cape Town Triathlon attracts both professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across the globe, who battle for the Number #1 spot in what can only be described as a gruelling test of physical fitness.

Fortunately, there are two different distances available, and so if you are just starting out with your first triathlon, you can ‘test the waters’ quite literally on the tough, but doable Sprint Distance Race, which includes a 500m swim, a 5km run, and a 20km cycle ride.
If you’re in it to win it, you can go for the Standard Distance Race, which is made up of a 750m swim, a 40km cycle ride, and a 10km run! Won by Great Britain’s very own Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee in 2015, this event is not for the fainthearted, but if you fancy having a go, there is probably no place better in the world to participate in a triathlon than Cape Town!
As with all of South Africa’s leading sporting events, such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour (March 6th 2016), and the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon (25th and 26th March), entries are limited to the Discovery World Triathlon, and so if you want to get your hands on a golden ticket, you are best to get yours now!
There are some fantastic trips to South Africa for the Cape Town Triathlon including flights, accommodations, and entry into the event, and as April is approaching the end of the cities peak season, you can enjoy a week’s holiday in this cosmopolitan hub without sharing all the must-see attractions with thousands of others!
