As expected, the Cape Argus Cycle Tour 2014 was another fantastic event, and despite the super strong “Cape Doctor” winds (up to 80km per hour!) at the start line, the weather was very kind to us +/- 35,000 cyclists who made our way around the Western Cape.
After facing almost 35° degrees last year, we were relieved to see the temperatures drop to a comfortable 26° degrees on race day, and with the cool breeze and ever-encouraging crowds, Suikerbossie and Chapman’s Peak didn’t seem nearly as tough as they did in 2013… but perhaps that is because we were on a bicycle made for two!
Cycling the Cape Argus Cycle Tour on a tandem is highly recommended – especially if you have limited opportunities to train during the winter months, and with our mean machine booked and confirmed for the Cape Argus 2015 event, I’m already looking forward to the 8th March!
Next year we will head to Cape Town early and cycle the Garden Route in preparation for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Momentum Cycle Tour 2015, but until then, here are some photos of our 2014 adventure!
